Here, four clever ideas for turning castoffs into door-stopping autumnal projects. Sue Whitney and Ki Nassauer from JunkMarket show you how.
WHEELING AROUND
To whip up a classic front-door wreath with an old, squeaky wheel, Sue and Ki hung an old leather logger’s belt from a sturdy vintage drawer pull drilled into a door. Loop the belt end through a vintage wheel. You may need to snip off a spoke or two. (If desired, use self-stick surface protectors on back of wheel to protect door from scratches.) With twine, gather together nature’s bounty, such as Indian corn, garlic cloves, broom corn, and bittersweet; tie to the wheel. When winter comes, replace fall foliage with a garland of holly and ivy or holiday ornaments.
Materials Needed:
1. old wheel from a cart or small bike, about 12 inches across
2. heavy leather belt or rope
3. hardware (to hang from)
4. twine
5. assorted fall foliage |
