Clean-burning, long-lasting soy candles in glass jars ($13; www.madgabs.com) are a welcome sight on chilly days. For a little extra style, try this simple way to cozy them up. Find an old sweater (tip: shop Goodwill, Salvation Army, and garage sales). Using a sharp pair of scissors, cut off about 6 inches of the cuff and slide it onto the candle. Be sure to leave enough of the glass exposed for safety. As always, never leave a burning candle unattended.
Green Tip
Re-dress an unsightly chair seat with a sweater! Just unscrew the seat cushion, use a staple gun to attach a sweater over the seat, trim the excess sweater, and reattach.
