Let Mother Nature be your guide: Slicing open a blue-green Jarrahdale pumpkin reveals delicious orange flesh. Put this unexpected color combination to work in your home, such as an entryway with soft green walls, creamy white trim, and an orange rug. Or use it as we did to enliven a freestanding cabinet. Deep orange adds drama to the interior, neutral cream highlights details in the woodwork, and a color wash of darker green over a lighter shade coats the exterior. (Tip: Make a color wash by thinning latex paint with water until it’s the consistency of stain, then rub it on with a cloth.)
